The Throne Verse is the 255th verse of the 2nd surah of the Quran, Al-Baqarah. The verse speaks about how nothing and nobody is regarded to be comparable to God. This is one of the best-known verses of the Quran and is widely memorised and displayed in the Muslim world.

Helen Abbas explores the intricacies of contemporary Arabic calligraphy against a backdrop of vintage shades and texture.
Bold and visually arresting, the artwork use hand-crafted script in beautiful swathes and confident strokes. 

On these canvases, hand applied gold ink and paints overlays provide a rich embellishment. With an eye to both tradition and modernity.
